Tierp Bank 1961
For this commission Folke invents the striking subject of labouring ants to demonstrate the long term benefits of working hard and saving carefully for success. The bank was a small savings bank for farmers, so particularly appropriate, amusing and always remembered no doubt by anyone who visited! From the photographs, it would seem that no two tiles are the same, all are individual and hand painted by Folke. The tiles were fired at Russell Tiglia’s ceramic Limburg works.
In 2002, the photograph shows the building is now an electrical store, however the tile wall remained.
